Air Handler Acoustics

Understanding acoustics is an important part of any commercial HVAC system design process. This session begins with a foundational review of the fundamentals of acoustics before moving into a discussion on building acoustics and how the air handler contributes to sound in the building space. Recommendations for specifications for air handler sound ratings and submittal data is included.

Improving Fan System Efficiency

Improving wire-to-air efficiency is a big part of improving fan system efficiency. This session is based on the December 2021 ASHRAE Journal Article “Key Factors of Fan System Wire-to-Air Efficiency” which compares four different fan-motor-controller systems as part of a strategy for improving wire-to-air efficiency.
